What affects wedding invitation postage?

There isn't one postage amount for every wedding invitation. The finished envelope's weight, size, shape, thickness, and flexibility matter. Extra cards, liners, and decorations can change the piece you mail, so measure the complete invitation rather than the main card alone.

Shape and finishing touches.

Square envelopes, stiffness, or uneven thickness can affect classification. An unusual invitation may need a physical check at a Post Office.

Budget for every invitation and any reply postage you intend to provide. Outbound and reply postage are separate costs.

Before you buy stamps

Assemble and seal one invitation as it will be mailed.
Weigh it and measure its outer dimensions and thickest point.
Use “Check a finished invitation” to estimate postage and see any limits on the result.
For an unusual or uncertain piece, have USPS assess the finished sample before purchasing postage for the full batch.
